The Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies (TJC) is dedicated to the restoration of the Constitution and the Healing of America in the tradition of the Founding Fathers.

If you are fed up with those who constantly point out the problems with America, but who offer no solutions, then TJC will provide a fresh perspective.

America does have its challenges, but the Founding Fathers have the answers. We can get America back on track. To do so we have developed a powerful series of seminars entitled the Healing of America. In addition, we have compiled a great library of Constitutional resources and have organized a cadre of patriots who are dedicated to this cause.

To Heal America

Part 1—Events and People Who Prepared the Way

In order to appreciate the historical setting of God’s hand in the building of America, we need to review some of the little-known or forgotten events that led to the discovery and development of the Western Hemisphere. The Founding Fathers would probably consider this one of the most important parts of our study of American history, because it covers the tempestuous historical period that gave birth to our great American heritage.

During that great formative period of the United States more than two centuries ago, the American Founding Fathers became acutely aware that all mankind is seeking the same three things

1. Freedom
2. Prosperity
3. Peace

Book of the Month- The Naked Communist

Every month, the Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies will recommend a powerful book that will enhance your knowledge of our country and the Constitution. You can also leave comments on the Book of the Month page and share your feelings and ideas about the current study. Here is some information about this month’s Book of the Month:

“The Naked Communist”

A number of years ago, when Glenn Kimber returned from Vietnam, he asked Dr. Skousen, his father-in-law, if he would teach him what was going on in America and throughout the world. In many ways Vietnam was so confusing because of all the political haggling that was going on pertaining to the war. Glenn loved his country, but was very confused about what was happening, so he wanted Dr. Skousen to teach him.

Dr. Skousen commented that he would teach him if he promised to maintain a balance and love for America. To do this, he recommended that for every book that Glenn read on what was wrong with America, he would read another book about the greatness of America.

Following this counsel, our Book of the Month is about those who oppose the original American government as established by the Founding Fathers. Next month, we will read a book that is positive about America’s founding.

We are comfortable that this approach will be of great benefit to each Healing of America Patriot who desires to know what is happening to our great country, and yet remain optimistic about what they can do to help heal our land.

The first book we will begin with is one of Dr. Skousen’s national best sellers. It explains the people and groups who established devious plans designed to destroy America’s formula of greatness.

Another Blow to our Bill of Rights??

On Monday, June 28, 2010, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a decision that many hailed as a victory for gun control and ownership.

In the recent past, Americans have been fearful that our Second Amendment rights to bear arms were in jeopardy.  Among watchful conservatives, rumors of disarmament and gun control were something to greatly fear.  What the Supreme Court did on June 28^th appeared to be a victory for gun ownership.

The ruling seemed to have dissipated our fear of losing those rights.  In fact, the headline in ABC News reads, “Supreme Court Affirms Right to Keep Handguns in Home.”   The protection of our Second Amendment rights – is that what we really got, or is this a repeat performance of the past?

Family Pack – “An Evening With The Founding Fathers”

This exciting packet has lessons, activities, songs, and games for families to learn together about our Founding Fathers and the Constitution.  The Family Pack is divided into three parts:

1.  Parents you will find valuable background information about patriotic subjects that will give parents knowledge for teaching their children so that they can grow up understanding the basic principles upon which our nation was founded.  This month’s information is about Thomas Jefferson:

Who Was Thomas Jefferson?

Practically every American knows the name of Thomas Jefferson, but very few Americans know his story. We will first record a few biographical facts and then present Jefferson’s little‑known epoch in which he discovered the ancient formula for a society based on freedom, prosperity, and peace.

Thomas Jefferson was born April 13, 1743, up near the Blue Ridge Mountains of what is now the western section of the state of Virginia. By that time, George Washington was eleven years old. Up in Philadelphia, Benjamin Franklin was thirty‑seven years old. He had already invented the “Franklin Stove” and was city postmaster. In Boston, Samuel Adams, who is often called the “Father of the Revolution,” was just graduating from Harvard with a master’s degree at the age of twenty‑one. Samuel’s younger cousin, John Adams, was eight years old when Jefferson was born. One day he would induce Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence. Patrick Henry was seven years old. However, James Madison, who would have so much to do with putting Jefferson’s ideas into the Constitution, would not be born until eight years later.

2.  Teens On the Constitutional Scene.  Many young people have been disillusioned about Thomas Jefferson, having been taught that he was an immoral man, father of slave children.  This month’s article straightens out this misconception with documentation.

In Defense of the Founding Fathers

Over the past few years, a number of attacks have surfaced on the moral integrity and life style of the Founding Fathers–especially Thomas Jefferson. 

In an internationally proclaimed article, researchers, using DNA evidence, have claimed that someone in the Jefferson line was the father of some of the children of one of Thomas Jefferson’s slave women.  In their usual fashion of rush to judgment, many reporters–smelling a “juicy story”–have stated unequivocally that the father of these slave children was none other than Thomas Jefferson himself.  This attack is not new, and surfaced its ugly head a number of times over the last 200 years.

In an excellent article published in The Freemen Digest in November of 1983, Dr.  Andrew Allison – author of the outstanding book, The Real Thomas Jefferson,– dispelled this whole argument by identifying those who began this fallacious lie.  In addition, he identified the fathers of these slave children.

3.  Liberty Belles and Beaus.  July’s fun packet for children has a story about Thomas Jefferson as a five-year-old boy in school.  There are pictures to download for the children to color and activities for them to do.  There is also sheet music of a song to learn about the Declaration of Independence that can be downloaded.  Here is a sample of the story:

The Longing

You will, of course, take notice, declared the schoolmaster to his class of boys, “that England’s position is particularly unique in her placement.  Pointing the hickory stick to a light green spot on the old blue and yellow map, he continued: To the north, note Scotland.  To the west, Ireland…A little boy named Tom sat at the back of the school room and yawned.  He was trying very hard to listen to the schoolmaster, but such big words!  And the morning hours seemed to be dragging on.  Tom looked towards the open door and sniffed the air.  Ahh!  The fragrance of fresh spring blossoms.  They seemed to call to him, Come out and smell my beautiful perfumes!  A bee buzzed nearby and seemed to say, I’m bizzzzzy azzzzz a bee, be-cuzzzzz of zzzzzzzo many zzzzweet zzzzzmelling flowerzzzzz!

Tom scratched his freckled nose as the clocked ticked on…

Happenings at TJC

This section of the website will feature the various people who work for TJC, their backgrounds, their accomplishments, the marvelous things they have done in their lives to contribute to the healing of America.  This month we are featuring the latest patriot to join the TJC team and  two great patriots who have passed on, but who had a great impact on America:  W. Cleon Skousen and Reverend Don Sills

We now have a new executive secretary working for TJC – Judy Goad, most efficient and competent and well-organized person in the office!  We are lucky to have her on board.  We thank her for all that she brings to the team.

We deeply regret the passing of Reverend Donald N. Sills, long-time patriot and member of our Thomas Jefferson team, who worked for freedom of religion in America for over 30 years.  A memorial was held for him at the Thomas Jefferson Center corporate headquarters on July 13, 2010.

Who Was W. Cleon Skousen?

Many patriots who are of the younger generation have asked members of the Thomas Jefferson Center: “We have heard of W. Cleon Skousen.  We know he wrote the popular Five Thousand Year Leap.  But who was he?  What is his background that gives him such credibility?”

First of all, it is important to know that Cleon Skousen was co-founder of the Thomas Jefferson Center.  As his son-in-law, Glenn Kimber joined with him in organizing the TJC  with a mission to inform the public about what is happening in America, and warn them of the dangers of big government.

To further enlighten those who do not know Dr. Skousen, the article below is a great description of who he was and lists his great life’s accomplishments.  Dr. Skousen passed away on January 9, 2006.  The following was presented at the height of his career in the 1980s:

Who was W. Cleon Skousen?

At a time when Mr. Skousen was giving hundreds of speeches each year, he occasionally received rather unusual introductions. Here is one of them. The chairman said:

“Before presenting our speaker, I have been asked to recognize ten distinguished gentlemen whom we have with us tonight. I will first introduce their accomplishments and then introduce them by name. All of these men are friends of our speaker.

“First, we have with us a national authority on child development who has written one of America’s most widely read books on raising boys.

“Second, we have with us a former FBI official who specialized in studying subversion and wrote a national best seller on the subject. He has also written a national best seller on the secret combinations which threaten the Constitution and the survival of freedom in America.

“Third, we have with us a university professor who is a specialist on the Bible and other Christian writings, and who teaches a thousand students per week. He is best known for several college texts which constitute a careful analysis of ancient scriptural literature.
